Well done on starting off by telling the reader what your topic is: “I decided to look into time management and stress in collage.” This will tell the reader right off bat what you are planning to address in your essay. Main Idea/Thesis:
You have stated what you want to do at the end of your introduction: “I wanted to take a look at the different circumstances that helps a student become more effective.” However, you still need to write a proper thesis statement for your essay. Your thesis should contain your argument or topic, together with a summary of the main points you plan to address on your topic. In the sentence above you state your topic. Can you list your main points? Let me give you an example of what I mean. Let us pretend that I want to write an essay on the issue of obesity. My thesis statement might look like this: Obesity is a growing problem, but it can be tackled if the person is properly motivated, follows a recommended eating plan, and becomes physically active. There you see the topic, the problem of obesity, followed by a summary of the main points to be discussed in the essay on this topic. Do write a thesis statement for your essay.
