Introduction
Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco on February 24, 1955. He was the biological son of a Syrian political science professor and a speech therapist. They gave him up for adoption and Steve was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs. As a child, Steve and his father would work on electronics in the garage. They would take a part and rebuild electronics and mechanical things building confidence and drive in Steve. Steve did not like school that much so he dropped out of college. In 1974, he worked with Atari, but did not stay at the company long. He took a trip to India to find spiritual enlightenment. In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple. Apple is a company that designs and creates Macintosh laptops and desktop computers that have the OS X operating system. At Apple, Jobs and Wozniak invented revolutionary products such as the iPad, iPhone, iPod, and iTunes. The first products were assembled in a garage. Even though he was successful at Apple, Steve resigned as CEO in 1985. He founded a hardware and software company called NeXT, Inc. He also purchased an animation company called Pixar Animation Studios, which eventually merged with Walt Disney in 2006. Pixar is known for animation films such as A Bug’s Life, Cars, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo. This merger made Steve Jobs a major shareholder at Disney. In 1997, Apple purchased NeXT, Inc. and Steve returned to his job as the CEO of Apple. However in 2003, Steve discovered he had a rare form of pancreatic cancer which is a neuroendocrine tumor. The surgery was successful to remove the tumor, but his health issues returned later. While going thru his illness he continued to work as much as he could. Apple products continued to take the world by storm with their innovations in technology. He died October 5, 2011 after battling the pancreatic cancer for several years.

He created a better world for all with the innovations of a computer, phone and music manager system. His actions and the success of Apple can be a good definition of leadership. He believed that a person’s passion and the work they do must work together. Steve believed the true meaning of a person’s work will ultimately be a good measure for success by how much pleasure and meaning that a person’s work brings to them and others. Steve loved to explore. “Leaders get people moving” (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). Steve helped the world move into a world that used technology to help make their lives easier and more efficient. Steve liked that when an idea came up it was his responsibility to move the idea around. He wanted to talk with different people about the idea and get them talking about it so they could explore different ideas and come up with a final product that the team could all be happy with. This was part of his leadership style. Steve Jobs wanted to manage the company like a startup company. They have no committees at Apple. One person is in-charge of a certain division and they work with a team to make that team great. Everyone is innovating something. He believed that if there was tremendous teamwork at the top of the company then it will trickle down and have...
