Job Description
Roles and responsibilities of an Industrial Designer include: • Participate in brainstorms that generate innovative ideas and contribute to design direction from project initiation.
• Create product designs that have a fresh perspective. Document product designs with great sketches, Computer Assisted Design renderings, and design documentation. • Create 3D CAD models of intended design directions for the creation of prototypes or to communicate design intent to engineering teams.

• Collaborate with other design and engineering teams to identify opportunities, solve design issues, and maintain design intent throughout the project.
• Support engineering teams in the creation of production-ready CAD databases. Respond to all engineering issues with feasible design solutions.
• Incorporate input from senior team members and other stakeholders. • Conduct consumer research, competitive marketplace analysis, and trend research. Use this research to create identify opportunities for innovation and create presentations that document the research and findings.

• Work with engineering teams and manufacturing partners to ensure that design integrity is maintained from concept to production.
• Contribute to an evolving design culture and process within the design organization.

Educational Requirements
You need to have at least a Bachelor of Arts, however, most jobs require also to have a Bachelor of Industrial Design / Bachelor of Design. Some sub-categories of Industrial Designing such as Product Design require a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
