COMM 200 DL
APA or MLA DOCUMENTATION ASSIGNMENT
DUE: Sept 21, 2012
The purpose of this assignment is to make you familiar with your textbook and the conventions of source documentation.
If you are a PFP or Business student, follow APA Style. All other students should follow MLA style. If you are not sure which style you should follow, send your instructor an email.
Organize the following sources into an alphabetical APA References OR MLA Works Cited list: A book by Carole Anne May entitled Spotlight on Critical Skills in Essay Writing. It was published by in 2007 by Pearson in Toronto. A textbook from another course in your program.
An essay entitled “The Pleasures of the Text” by Charles McGrath in an anthology entitled “Canadian Content”. The editors are Sarah Norton and Nell Waldman and it was published Thomson Nelson in 2007 in Toronto. Any article from a periodical that you or someone in your family reads. Any one online educational webpage dealing with college essay writing. Consult your Harris/Jewison Reference Guide, tab 11 (pp. 431-471) for MLA Documentation or tab 12 (pp. 473-505) for APA Documentation. You may also use the Purdue University Weblinks (see Learning Materials or Weblinks) to compose a perfectly formatted one-page References OR Works Cited assignment page. Please make sure that you adhere precisely to the format (heading, spacing, tabbing) of References or Works Cited as presented by your textbook or the Purdue University website.
A References (APA) or Works Cited (MLA) a one-page is a list of sources, NOT an essay: See examples on page 470 (MLA) and p. 504 (APA). CAUTION:
1. Please make sure that your sources are not all identical to a friend’s in this course. I will deduct marks for thoroughly identical entries (chapter, essay, online source). 2. When googling an online source, please do not use the FIRST link that comes to mind. Scroll down for Rules of Online Submission
