WRITING REQUIREMENT ASSIGNMENT: 2500 WORD ESSAY
Weighting: 40% of course assessment (10% graded by ELC, 30% by course lecturer) In considering solutions to the problem of global warming, state whether you agree with the statement by Tickell ((1996), in Houghton, Chapter 8 p.253) “Mostly we know what to do but we lack the will to do it”. Give reasoned arguments in support of your opinion. Schedule
1. Submit the first draft (1000 words) to ELC teachers via Learn@PolyU by 28 Sep 2015 (MON) 23:59 [Week 5]. 2. The first draft should already have the basic structure with major section headings and sub-headings, as well as an indication of what you intend to put in each section. 3. Submit the second draft (1800 words) with a reflection to ELC teachers via Learn@PolyU by 26 Oct 2015 (MON) 23:59 [Week 9]. 4. You should revise both drafts according to the feedback given by ELC teachers. You are strongly encouraged to book a writing consultation session with your ELC teacher to give you further guidance face-to-face on your essay. Refer to the teaching plan for details. 5. Submit your final essay (2500 words) in hard copy with a Turnitin report by 30th Nov 2015 (MON) to Janet (Hardcopy to LSGI General Office ZS621). Guidelines for essay writing
Basic structure of essay should include these sections: introduction, body, conclusion, and references. Headings and subheadings should be used to define structure within each major section if necessary.
